Aging Services of Georgia, through its national partner, LeadingAge, is proud to share information from the Institute for the Future of Aging Services (IFAS). IFAS bridges research, practice and policy. Notice the link to the IFAS web site for additional information.
Signature Areas
Created in 1999, the Institute for the Future of Aging Services (IFAS) is a policy research center uniquely designed to address how to most effectively meet the needs of our older citizens and redefine the nature of quality aging services.
Unlike any other research institute of its kind, IFAS, through its connection with the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), has access to untapped "living laboratories," where independent researchers can study real-world providers and their efforts to improve the lives of older adults and those who care for them.
Based upon rigorous, objective research, IFAS identifies evidence-based models of care and best practices that can be replicated by other aging services organizations around the country. We share our findings with policymakers, providers, consumers and the media to advance the field of aging. Through partnerships and strategic alliances, IFAS is creating a virtual network of individuals and organizations committed to advancing the quality of aging services in this country.
Our mission is to create a bridge among the policy, practice and research communities to advance the development of high-quality aging services; provide a forum for the health, supportive services and housing communities to explore and develop policies and programs to meet the needs of an aging society.
Advancing Quality in Aging Services
Quality in long-term care is a priority issue for consumers, providers and policymakers. The Institute brings together applied researchers and long-term care providers to examine new and existing practices for improving quality. Our long-term goal is to develop a collaborative research network on quality of care in long-term care settings to help standardize research in the field.
