The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) met recently to start formulating recommendations on Medicare payment updates for health care providers in 2011. MedPAC will vote on the recommendations in January and report them to Congress in March. MedPAC is required to issue these reports annually although provisions of health care reform legislation now pending in the Senate will likely supersede MedPAC’s recommendations for 2011. MedPAC’s discussions include findings on average payment margins for home health agencies hospice providers; and skilled nursing facilities.
