The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) unveiled a new discussion forum, HUD Ideas in Action to allow HUD’s partners to share and discuss ideas, and then vote the best ones for action by the department. The online tool is based on how HUD can best fulfill the vision of its FY 2010-2015 strategic plan.
HUD wants to make sure that its plan represents the needs of all its stakeholders in each of HUD’s five areas: repair the nation’s economy and housing markets, promote affordable rental housing, utilize housing as a
platform for improving the quality of life, build inclusive and sustainable communities of opportunity and transform the way HUD does business.
HUD gives participants 30 votes in each area to highlight the best ideas submitted and gives them an opportunity to comment on the recommendation. Among the top suggestions in the section “Utilize housing as a platform for improving the quality of life” is a suggestion to “have resident services coordinators in all HUD housing.” We encourage you to submit your ideas today or to show your support for those recommendations already made by others.
